Loaded language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loaded language as an umbrella term is sometimes used to describe spin, euphemisms and doublespeak.
Homophobia is sometimes considered to be a loaded term because the root phobia implies a fear while the dictionary definition implies disgust or aversion to homosexuals or aspects of homosexuality.
Many people consider the very words in times obscene, profane or vulgar for producing a negative reaction in a public situation, and by social codes of etiquette and taboo, it's considered best to avoid these "loaded words" whenever/wherever possible out of comfort and respect.

 Loaded (language)
A language construct, such as a word or a question, is said to be loaded if it carries meaning or implications beyond its strict definition (its denotation).
Loaded words are words or phrases which have strong emotional overtones or connotations and which evoke strongly positive (or negative) reactions far beyond the specific meaning of the word which is listed in the dictionary.
Use of the phrase "loaded language" to describe the writing or speech of another implies an accusation of demagoguery or of pandering to the audience.

 Logical Fallacy: Loaded Words
Loaded language is not inherently fallacious, otherwise most poetry would commit this fallacy.
The fallacy is committed either when an arguer attempts to use loaded words in place of an argument, or when an arguee makes an evaluation based on the colorful language in which an argument is clothed, rather than on the merits of the argument itself.
Loaded language is a subfallacy of Begging the Question, because to use loaded language fallaciously is to assume an evaluation that has not been proved, thereby failing to fulfill the burden of proof.

Loaded words saturate this paper to produce an emotional need for the reader to have understood her own opinion.
The loaded words she uses in her article add to her pathos making her argument seeming to be more logical than it really is. “Rape is an outrage that cannot be tolerated in civilized society;” this first sentence of her article has five loaded words in it (Paglia).
She used the negative connotations of feminism and loaded words surrounding it to work toward her conclusion; she failed in her attempt to prove the ideas of feminism at fault of rape by not producing evidence to support her thesis.

Others claim that I have used words "loosely." (In fact, one rebuttal letter was titled by the editors, "Nelson throws around loaded words 'loosely.'") It is this letter in particular, by Michael J. Larkin, on which I wish to concentrate my thoughts.
As for "loaded" words, I was making the argument that non-partisanship is good in theory, but the choice of a specific action becomes partisan.
Another loaded word which Larkin used was "legitimate." He states that the Bush administration is not legitimate because of the "debacle of the 2000 election." This is interesting.

Confusing Words and Phrases that are Worth Avoiding - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation (FSF)
The use of the word "rights" in this term is propaganda, designed to lead you unawares into seeing the issue from the viewpoint of the few that impose the restrictions, while ignoring that of the many on whom the restrictions are imposed.
By using a word in your own language, you show that you are really referring to freedom and not just parroting some mysterious foreign marketing concept.
This word carries the implication of preventing destruction or suffering; therefore, it encourages people to identify with the owner and publisher who benefit from copyright, rather than with the users who are restricted by it.

The Wonderful, Wacky World of Fem-Speak - Carey Roberts - MensNewsDaily.com™
Gender is one of the most popular words in Fem-Speak because no one knows for sure which interpretation you are using.
In Fem-Speak, it is perfectly acceptable to use words and expressions with female derivations, such as Mother Earth, mother-tongue, mother lode, ladybug, sister city, “necessity is the mother of invention,” and so on.
But Fem-Speak prohibits any word or phrase with a male connotation, such as mankind, manpower, middleman, or “man the ramparts.” Breaking this linguistic convention is a violation of what feminists call “speech codes,” and can invite the imposition of legal sanctions.

The words we choose to describe actions play a key role in shaping perspectives, opinions, and responses.
When it comes to the great evils of this world – torture, genocide, war, and so on – it seems to me that muted words often are selected to publicly describe and discuss what happened – and what should be done in response.
As far as I can tell, as long as torture remains undefined, and the word “torture” is assiduously avoided when describing certain acts, the perpetrators of those acts (and their governments) probably could avoid charges under this law.

Having been a pastor for a handful of years myself, and still in conversation with many of them, (it seems to me that) pastors have been taught or put themselves into a mold, where they have to weigh their words more carefully and cautiously.
Pastors do not have the freedom to speak freely as bloggers tend to do, because their words often have broader impact upon a wide range of people in their congregation and community, certainly when spoken from behind the pulpit, as well as in everyday life.
Knowing that their words will impact different people differently, and there are those who are hypersensitive to certain ideas and feelings, pastors often speak in an edited and diplomatic manner, trying to navigate all of that morass.
