		The food-security bank, in Ndolobo, 125 km from the town of Mbaiki in Lobaye, also features silos where farmers' harvests would be stored once sold to the bank for resale later.
		This food security bank, to be run by a management committee established by farmers, was intended to check the activities of "middle-men", who buy the produce cheaply from farmers for speculative purposes during times of food shortages.
		IPHD Representative Cristian Balan was quoted as urging the residents of Lobaye to consider the bank as a means for achieving food security.

		The first phase of the anti-polio immunisation campaign, covering six provinces, took place on 1 March, during which 70.95 percent of children in Lobaye Province were immunised.
		The campaign covered the provinces of Ombella Mpoko and Lobaye in the southwest, Ouham and Ouham Pende in the northwest, Kemo and Nana Grebizi in north-central CAR as well as the capital, Bangui.
		All the targeted provinces, except Lobaye, were directly affected by the October 2002-March 2003 rebellion that almost annihilated the health sector in the northwest, preventing children from being immunised for over a year.

	Batwa: NGO Undertakes Project to Improve Batwa's Socio-Cultural Image
		The coordinator of the project, Ilaria Firmian, said on Friday that the EU-funded project was aimed at reinforcing activities to fight discrimination of the Aka - a sub-group of the Batwa community, commonly referred to as "Pygmies" - in the southwestern province of Lobaye.
		She said the project was approved in January and that COOPI was working in partnership with the diocese of Maki, 107 km from the capital, Bangui, and the country's human rights body, the Observatoire Centrafricain des Droits de l'Homme.
		COOPI has been operating in Lobaye since 1998 and chose to work for the Aka because they are "highly marginalized" by the other ethnic groups, Firmian added.

		The prefectures are named for the major rivers of the area: Ubangui, Nana, Mambéré, Kadeï, Lobaye, M'Poko, Ombella, Sangha, Kémo, Ouaka, Kotto, and M'Bomou all flow into the Congo; Pendé, Ouham, Gribingui, Bamingui, Bangoran, and Vakaga all flow into the Chari, and thus to Lake Chad.
		Bangui: in the Bobangui language, it means "the rapids." Bangui is located at the first great rapid of the Ubangi River.
