You could only get into town by walking along the opposite bank of the river and crossing a series of rice paddies, so we spent time trying to find Juan and Juni who were working on the grounds to paddle us across in their tiny canoe.
Loboc is a nice small town with a crumbling old coral stone church and thank god, not a single tricycle in sight instead they were replaced by a steady stream of motorbikes waiting a half built bridge to wisk you where you wanted to go.
Imal our boat guide in El Nido was brought up in Bohol and when we mentionned the tarsier to him his dropped his easy smile and looked genuinely frightened.

Well, it appears that Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado, who is also the convention chairman, apparently recorded hits with his marketing efforts to convince Lions that Bohol has become the primary tourist destination in the Visayas.

 City of Tagbilaran: History
In the year 1741, the Father Rector of the Jesuits in Bohol, Father Cesar Felipe Doria, writing from his "Residencia" in Loboc, Bohol, said that the population of Baclayon was already one thousand six hundred (1,600) tributes or taxpayers.
He said, "In the island of Bohol, in the villages of Loboc, Baclayon, Dauis, Maribojoc, San Miguel de Hagna, Talibon and Ynabanga…" This indicate that in 1738 the town of Tagbilaran was not yet in existence.
The political transition of Tagbilaran from a town/municipality of Bohol to its present status of a chartered city brought about a significant level of development in view of the increase in the share of the internal revenue allotment from the national government to the city.
