Topic: Localization of a module

Localization of a ring - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term localization originates in algebraic geometry: if R is a ring of functions defined on some geometric object (algebraic variety) V, and one wants to study this variety "locally" near a point p, then one considers the set S of all functions which are non-zero at p and localizes R with respect to S.
Nevertheless, a localization can be constructed consisting of "fractions" with denominators coming from S; in contrast with the integral domain case, one can safely 'cancel' from numerator and denominator only elements of S.
Localizing non-commutative rings is more difficult; the localization does not exist for every set S of prospective units.

Localization of a module - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In mathematics, the localization of a module is a construction to introduce denominators in a module M for a ring R.
The construction of the localization of a ring is a systematic way to provide multiplicative inverse elements for any given subset S of R; it is no loss of generality to assume S is closed under multiplication, and contains 1.
In terms of localization of modules, one can define the ideas of quasi-coherent sheaf and coherent sheaf, for locally ringed spaces.

UserException - Exception class with traceback and localization features.
So the intention of this module is to provide something more inteligent than just a string with error message.
If you want to use the localization features, you have to use variable names inside message text and provide their values as options (with the same name, as name of the variable inside the message text).
After localization, variables are substituted by values of the options of the same name.

Localization of a ring - Term Explanation on IndexSuche.Com
The term ''localization'' originates in s defined on some geometric object (algebraic_variety) ''V'', and one wants to study this variety "locally" near a point ''p'', then one considers the set ''S'' of all functions which are non-zero at ''p'' and localizes ''R'' with respect to ''S''.
In the theory of the spectrum_of_a_ring, these localizations are used to identify basic open_sets in Spec(''R'').
In particular: after localization at a prime ideal ''P'', one obtains a local_ring.

Localization of a module - Term Explanation on IndexSuche.Com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
is a construction to introduce denominators in a module ''M'' for a ring ''R''.
The localized ring is written ''S-1R'', in one possible notation; there is a ring homomorphism :φ:''R''→''S-1R'' that is thought of in fractional terms as :φ(''r'') = ''r''/1.
One immediate use for the 'fractions' approach is to show that localization of modules is an exact_functor, or in other words (reading this in the first construction) that ''S-1R'' is a flat_module over ''R''.

The final, capstone component of the localization model is the integration mechanism that will provide the output source localization maps.
One approach is merely to use the map as a "leaky accumulator" to record or integrate the locations that the lower-level modules locate with high confidence.
Also, it is not clear if a localization model can operate primarily "bottom-up," or if substantial high-level "top-down" information flow is required (Slaney, 1995).

 weblicon technologies AG - architecture
Using modules, weblicon achieves a high level of code-reuse among the different applications and thereby increases efficiency of the development cycle and stability of the resulting product.
In addition, the Preferences module allows manipulation of the application-wide category list, which is used by other modules, such as the Calendar module, for assigning user-defined color labels to appointments, to-do items, contacts and distribution lists.
Thanks to the localization architecture, adding a new language can be implemented in a matter of days simply by providing text files containing the text resources of a new language, without requiring code manipulation or recompilation of the applications.

 libi18n Module Description
Our NN1.1 stream module and charset converter architecture were designed to be extensible (not Japanese centric) which made it straightforward to add Chinese, Korean and Central European charset encodings support in the NN2.0 libi18n.
The character set converters called by the libi18n stream module must maintain state because (1) the text data may be stateful or contain multibyte characters and (2) state is needed in some cases in which libi18n auto-selects from a few character encodings (e.g., between the 3 common Japanese encodings).
Because these are wrappers to the existing locale functions provided by the operating system the behavior may not be totally consistent across platforms.
