The name "Achnacarry" is from the Gaelic named "field (achadh) of the (na) fish-trap/weir (caraidh)." It is located on the isthmus between Loch Lochy and Loch Arkaig, where Arkaig's waters run out into the south end of Lochy.

Riding east toward Loch Ness along the northern shore of Loch Lochy.  Another very peaceful morning ride.
There is a gravel road along the northern side of the Loch.
The forest road runs along the northwest side of Loch Lochy.  It is rough in places and mountain bikes would be better, but our touring bikes worked just fine.  The forest road provides a good way to avoid the traffic on the main road on the other side of the Loch.
