 SENIOR BOWL D-21 / TAGBOARD
The Lockheed D-21 (Project Tagboard) was an unmanned or "drone" aircraft designed to carry out high-speed, high-altitude strategic reconnaissance missions over hostile territory.
It is a product of the Lockheed "Skunk Works" program that developed the A-12, YF-12, and SR-71 "Blackbird" manned aircraft in the 1960's.
Originally, the D-21 was designed to be launched from the back of a modified A-12 (redesignated M-12) carrier aircraft.

A-12 Oxcart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A variant was the M-21, configured as a platform for launching the Lockheed D-21, a Mach 3+ reconnaissance drone that began development in October 1962.
Originally known by the Lockheed designation Q-12, it was intended to be launched off the back of the M-21 for extra-long range flights and/or missions that were too dangerous for a manned vehicle, but the program was cancelled when the second conversion model crashed, killing a Lockheed test crewman.
The A-12 Oxcart (named after the code name of the program it was developed for) was a reconnaissance aircraft built for the Central Intelligence Agency by Lockheed's famed Skunk Works.

Lockheed Ventura Mk II This version (Lockheed Model 37-21-01) was based on the Ventura Mk I, but was powered by 2 × Pratt and Whitney R-2800-31 Double Wasp radial, built to US military rather than civil standards.
Like described in the introductory text at the top of this page, the Ventura (Lockheed Model 37) was adapted for military use from the Model 18 Lodestar, resulting in the Model 21.
This version (Lockheed Model 237-27-01) had a bigger fuel capacity, the ability to carry drop tanks, lightened gun armament, a more diverse load of disposables, and naval equipment including an ASD-1 surface search radar.

Hundreds of jobs on line in Learjet, TAA dispute
Learjet claims the $900,000 rent increase for DunnAir is not "excess rent" or "profit recaptured," but rather revenue that will be used to pay off the $11 million Learjet paid Lockheed and the $28 million Learjet spent for improvements at Tucson International Airport in the late 1990s, McDonough said.
Learjet has lined up a new company to take over aircraft completion work in the 235,000-square-foot former Lockheed hangar.
Learjet pays TAA $313,000 per year for a 32.7-acre plot on Aero Park Boulevard, but the three-year sublease calls for DunnAir to pay Learjet $1.2 million per year.

Lockheed paid $12.5 million in "commissions" or "fees" to ANA and Japanese government officials to obtain the sale of 21 Tristar aircraft.
Soon after the Lockheed bribery scandal broke, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) was put into place, prohibiting bribery of foreign government officials by American companies.
For example, the $12.5 million was a negligible cost to Lockheed and the revenue dollars were desperately needed to stabilize Lockheed's shaky financial situation.

At the pinnacle of his brilliant career, Dr. Banting was killed on February 21, 1941, when the Lockheed Hudson patrol bomber he was travelling to England in crashed shortly after takeoff from Gander, Newfoundland.
He was also involved in research in biological weapons, both in terms of countermeasures and methods for mass production of anthrax, although the exact nature of this research remains unclear even today.
The exact purpose of his flight to England remains a mystery, but it appears likely he was going to meet with counterparts in an effort to convince them to produce biological weapons as a last-ditch weapon in case of a German invasion of England.
