Lockington is a village in Washington Township, Shelby County, Ohio, along Loramie Creek.
About 9.4% of families and 7.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.7% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
Both the main branch and the southern end of the Port Jeferson or Sidney feeder of the Miami and Erie Canal transversed Lockington.

 Bios - Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
Lockington was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in September 1992 and one year later was promoted to the position of Associate Conductor.
Lockington’s guest conducting engagements have included appearances with the Saint Louis, Houston, Detroit, Seattle, Indianapolis, Vancouver, Colorado, Pacific and Kansas City symphonies, the Buffalo, Rochester, Calgary and Louisiana Philharmonics and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
Lockington was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and served as assistant principal cellist for three years with the Denver Symphony Orchestra before turning to conducting.

The little village was situated at the site of the 6 locks, which enabled canal boats to be raised or lowered a total of 67 feet at the edge of the 'Loramie Summit.' At the height of the activity on the canal, scores of boats a day moved through the system of locks.
Joseph Avy, a long-time Lockington resident, recalled in a 1991 interview that boat captains would race to the first lock in the village, hoping the locktender would let them pass through first.
Construction of the railroads, which helped bring about the decline and eventual demise of the canal, spelled the end of dreams of Lockington's residents for it to become a large city.

The canal entered the county southwest of Lockington, following Loramie Creek for much of the way, with an aqueduct carrying the waters of the canal across the creek south of Lockington.
The highest point along the route between Cincinnati and Toledo was a plateau called the 'Loramie Summit,' beginning at Lockington and ending at New Bremen.
The water flowed south to the Queen City from Lockington, and from New Bremen north to Lake Erie.

 Body could be missing Lockington man
A body believed to be that of an elderly man who went missing in the northern Victorian town of Lockington this week has been found.
A man walking his dog found a body in a Lockington irrigation water channel about 7am (AEDT) Friday, police spokeswoman Carla Coslovich said.
A police search and rescue unit recovered the body, which is believed to be that of a 94-year-old man whose car was found in the channel on Wednesday.
