Many of them do (just as many fans photocopy their favorite stories from magazines and pass them around to friends).

I know it is strange to mourn the death of a magazine, but they can be a source of intimate friendship, if you can consider writers you've never met your friends.
Locus Magazine reports that 1,959 SFandF books were published in 1999, up from 1,784 in 1989.
Since the numbers are dwindling, there is a good chance that the SFandF magazines are living on borrowed time, that the people who still buy and subscribe to these magazines are an older group who acquired a pulp fiction reading habit and have maintained it.

Last month's Locus Magazine was the graphic novel special, edited by Charles Vess.
Locus is doing a few "Specials" now each year -- so far this year they've done the Horror and the Graphic Novel specials, with more to come (the extra length gets paid for by the publishers taking more ad space), and I'm really enjoying them.
I saw that one of the journal readers was wanting to get his hands on more of Barron Storey's work and I have a page (http://www.geocities.com/jeff.avila@sbcglobal.net/main/links/barron/barron.html) set up that shows a lot of his work and gives help finding some of it.

This was the first time the magazine had done this: at least as far as I can remember having been a reader for over two decades.
Last year's special was loosely linked to the UK national SF convention, the Eastercon, in that it made a conscious effort to ensure that the issue was the one to come out over the Easter weekend and indeed it referred to the convention itself.
It really is the best of times and the worst of times, but whatever - as is always the case in SF - the future is bound to be exciting.

Locus does in-depth profiles on important people in the field.
They provide schedules of upcoming cons and, when I did the convention circuit and the whole fandom as a way of life thing, I definitely read this magazine all the time.
I no longer read it religiously, but I definitely like to check in from time to time, especially if they have an interview with an author I particularly like or I’m looking for some new genre writers to read.
