  Logan Township Fire Service
The Logan Township United Fire Department (LTUFD) is an all volunteer department serving the residents of north-west Logan Township specifically the areas of Juniata Gap, Homers Gap, Grandview, and Wopsy Mountain.
Logan Township Fire Departments are responsible for several miles of Interstate 99 and numerous other state highways.
We have several elementary and private schools in the township as well as critical infrastructure of the state with seven water reservoirs, four water treatment plants and a sewage treatment plant which serve both the City of Altoona and Logan Township, along with critical 911 communications infrastructure.

 A Place Called Blair
Blair Valley was divided between 2 states in 1764-67 when Mason and Dixon laid out a line of milestones which bore the letters M for Maryland and P for Pennsylvania.
Blair was descended from one of the pioneer families of this region for whom Blair's Fork was named.
It was established in 1964 as Blair Academy, a division of George Peabody College, by the Justin and Valere Potter Foundation through a bequest of Valere Blair Potter in memory of her mother, Myra Jackson Blair.

According to the s&t account, Blair County histories state that another furnace called Harriet was built in the same township at an earlier date.
A book belonging to W. Metz of Williamsburg, oldest member of the Blair County Historical Society, states that the Bennington Furnace originally was called the Henrietta Furnace, and s&t believe that the "Henrietta" became the "Harriet" through an error in transcription, and that they are one and the same furnace.
It Was the third furnace in Blair County and was built in 1817 by Dr. Peter Schoenberger, who later became the most prominent iron master in Pennsylvania.

He was an auditor in 1814, auditor and appraiser in 1817, constable in 1815 and served as a township supervisor in 1821 and 1822.
The increase in population throughout the Logan Valley region, and especially in the vicinity of the new town of Altoona, caused a certain group of residents to agitate to have the township further divided.
The movement was approved by the residents of the township and borough and in 1930 Antis Township became the first region in Blair County to possess a completely consolidated school system.

ALTOONA - Attorney General Tom Corbett and Blair County District Attorney Richard Consiglio today announced that agents from the Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation (BNI) along with more than 100 local police officers are in the process of capturing as many as 45 heroin and crack cocaine dealers operating in the Altoona area.
As a result of those searches Corbett said agents seized 21 packets of crack cocaine and a handgun.  Quinten Heyward, of Brooklyn, NY and Eric Dukes, of Manning, SC, were both charged with one count each of cocaine possession, possession with intent to deliver and possession of stolen property.
Corbett added that the attention Altoona and other Pennsylvania communities are getting from urban drug dealers is not only increasing the supply of drugs, but is also a factor in the rising tide of drug-related violence across the state.
