The two lokapalas stand firmly on recumbent brown glazed oxen, one leg straight supported on the back of the ox and one knee raised with the foot on the head of the ox.
Both lokapalas are attired similarly in full moustached military garb consisting of a scarf, makara shoulder armor, armored breast plates with cords delineating their chests, torso's and bellies, hip protectors worn over fringed aprons longer skirts, leather shin guards, and shoes.
Both lokapalas are covered in a well controlled and brilliant three color glaze of straw, amber and green with turquoise glaze applied on parts of the shoulder armor, scarfs, shin guards, and cords binding the breast plates.

To this end, clay or wood mingqi in the form of attendants, animals, and representations of objects from daily life were placed in the tombs of royalty and noblemen.

Shadakshari is particularly important in Tibet as the Dalai Lama is considered to be the earthly reincarnation of this specific form of Avalokiteshvara (Rhie and Thurman, 145).
The four lokapala, who are traditionally positioned on the fourth terrace of Mount Meru serve to mark and protect the sacred environment of Potolaka.
The lokapala further indicate that potolaka is conceptually identical to Mount Meru and Ekadasamukha Avalokiteshvara is a fully enlightened Buddha at the top of the mountain.
