He arranged to use Lon Morris facilities and faculty for the classes taught by the school and split the profits with the college, again allowing Lon Morris to survive a war and even to repair long- neglected facilities.
Lon Morris was, after all, a church sponsored school in the Deep South so this was a big step.
Those of us who have seen what is different about Lon Morris work changes in our lives all bear a share of responsibility to the youth represented on the mural's far right that those differences will still be there to change their lives, too.

Lon Morris College was founded in 1854 as the New Danville Masonic Female Academy near Kilgore.
In 1927 Lon Morris College became the first junior college in Texas accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, and two years later it also became the first approved for a chapter in Phi Theta Kappa, a national junior college honor society.

Students from Bullard, Frankston, Jacksonville, Neches, New Summerfield and Rusk traveled to Lon Morris and were treated to a pizza dinner and entertainment.
The program requires attendance to Lon Morris College and the regulation of spending no more than $1,000 a year over a minimum of two years at Lon Morris.

IN REMEMBRANCE: The Lon Morris College Chapel was filled with friends, family and colleagues for the memorial services for the late president Dr. Clifford M. Lee on Monday in Jacksonville.
However, Lee had graduated from Lon Morris in 1968 and loved his alma mater too much to let it be closed.
Before Lee was named as the 17th president of the 150-year-old college, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1970, received his Master of Theology degree from Southern Methodist University and his Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill.
