The London Borough of Hackney is a London Borough in the east end of London and part of inner London.
The Metropolitan Borough of Hackney was a metropolitan borough of the County of London from 1899 to 1965.
Although the total number of crimes in the borough went down by 8 per cent between 2004 and 2005 (as opposed to the MPS average of 4 per cent), gun crime in the borough has increased from 207 incidents in 2004, to 244 incidents in 2005, a rise of 18 per cent.

I was amazed how bleak Hackney is, considering it's so central in London I assumed it would have been heavily gentrified by now, but there was an abundance of decaying, derelict buildings.
The bottom six pictures were taken along Hackney Road on the way to Beck Road and Martello Street, they give an idea of the condition of the area.
