London Bridge Tower is currently on the site of one of the grottiest skyscrapers to grace London, although by Southwarks standards something of a beauty.
London Bridge Tower was originally concieved by Broadway Malayan, the designers of St Georges Wharf tower in Vauxhall.
The purchase of neighbouring London Bridge House by Sellar Properties has further enhanced their plans for the area and it looks as if they plan to masterplan it now with LBT as their focal point.

Another huge skyscraper, the Bishopsgate Tower, was recently submitted for planning permission in London and this will exceed the height of London Bridge Tower by a metre.

I'm not sure that London's charm will necessary be eroded if an assortment of next generation skyscrapers is to grace it's rather undistinguished central skyline (I mean, Big Ben never really cut the mustard as an awe-inspiring beast and looks rather puny to the modern eye).
The London Bridge Tower, though very beautiful and impressive will never be built, its too expensive and like most phantom buildings that never even get under way there are to many obstacles in its path.

You got this at the right time slipping out to the west and giving the bridge a real lift over the rest of the east end.
There is an odd perspective though with the north tower looking wider than south.
