Westminster tube station on the London Underground serves the Circle, District and Jubilee lines.
During the station's redevelopment, a vast 39m (127ft) deep void was excavated underneath the old station to house the escalators, lifts and stairs to the deep-level Jubilee Line platforms.
The station was by far the most complex in terms of engineering of any of those on the Jubilee line and it was the last to open, just before Christmas 1999.

As the Millennium Bridge was about to open to the public, I made my way through the crowds to the entrance steps and slowly people shuffled on.
Contrary to the subsequent assertions of the engineers, the swaying of the bridge came first, seemingly caused by the natural movement of the bridge in response to the large numbers on it.
In the archway under Southwark Bridge there was a busker with a lute in fifteenth(?) century dress, playing a more interesting selection of music than most.

I agree w/ Where2Travel that the London Bridge Hotel is convenient to the tube/main line stations.
You would be very near London Bridge Rail station (which has a bus station outside) and London Bridge underground (Tube) station, both which will provide useful connections for you.
But it is in the far east end of central London so, except for the Tower of London/Tower Bridge and the river, it is a very long way from any tourist attractions/sites.

From the City Hall I went to London Bridge tube station and made my way over toward Tottenham Court Road.
I then walked around Westminster Abbey and found the cloisters behind the abbey, this was very peaceful and made a nice contrast to the bustle of central London.
