London Central Secondary School is located at the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Waterloo Street in downtown London, Ontario.
The Union School was renamed Central School in 1865; however, the school was razed in 1890 when other schools were able to accommodate Central students.
London Collegiate Institute was constructed on its present site in 1877; the school was destroyed by fire in 1920.

On July 4, 1879, the last day of classes for the school year, the board of education and other worthies gathered at the institute, now the site of London Central secondary school.
He continued his mastership of the school after its amalgamation with the senior division of another, earlier Central School, says historian Archie Bremner.

The school was founded in April 1995 by Frank Marchese, a former teacher at Matthews Hall, another private school in the same city, along with a number of his colleagues.
The school was originally intended to be located at a library building at Weldon Park in Arva, Ontario, but on the day the school was to be first presented to the public, the founders were informed that zoning bylaws would not permit a school at that location.
The school went through a number of headmasters in the next couple of years, before closing in 2004 and transferring ownership of the building to Nancy Campbell Collegiate Institute, where a few of the teachers and students chose to continue.
