 ABOUT COMMODITY TRADING
Commodity exchanges (also called commodity markets) deal in "soft" commodities, such as grain, cocoa, coffee, sugar, cotton, wool, jute, rubber, pork bellies, crude oil, or in (precious) metals (gold, silver; aluminium, copper, lead, nickel, tin, zinc) and in other "hard" commodities.
In most cases, commodity contracts are transacted in the form of lots of standard quantities and according to a specified level of quality, so that dealing can take place without an inspection of the goods.
Usually, physical quantities of the commodities handled on the commodity exchanges are enough to balance out a marginal and temporary excess of either demand or supply.
