London Grove Township is located in southern Chester County in Pennsylvania’s rolling Piedmont Region.
And while agriculture is still a major part of the Township, recently London Grove has become an attractive place to live as development pushes west from Philadelphia and north from Wilmington, Delaware.
The Township was incorporated in 1723 and is home to not only 6,700 people but to dairy, horse and mushroom farms.

 Doyle's Jefferson Co. Township Descriptions: Ross
Ross Township, named in honor of James Ross, was laid off by the county commissioners in 1812, with thirty-six sections, but later the upper tier was taken to form part of Brush Creek, leaving it with an area of thirty square miles.
Townships elections were held at the residence of Henry Crab until 1850 and afterwards at school house No. 3.William Scott, the first justice of the peace, resided on Section 32.
While the Ohio canal system was of immense benefit in developing the sections of the state through which it passed it was of very little use to Jefferson County, which received practically no return for the many thousands of dollars of taxes paid by her citizens to build up rival communities.

 Borough of West Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania
The village of West Grove derived it's name from the Friends Meeting House on Harmony Road which was built in 1787 on the western edge of London Grove Township.
West Grove was separated from London Grove Township and became an incorporated Borough in 1893.
Although approved by the Courts on November 29, 1893 the decree of incorporation was not recorded until January 9, 1894 to prevent confusing the tax accounts of London Grove Township and to eliminate the need for a special borough election.

It is bounded on the north by Walnut Grove township, on the east by Mound, on the south by Scotland, and on the west by Emmet.
The land, outside of the wooded district, is diversified, being composed in part of level prairie, and again of rolling surface, the whole, with the numberous handsome houses and painted barns thickly studding the county, presenting a picturesque and pleasing landscape to the eye of the observer.
Thomas A. Brooking came to Macomb township in the fall of 1834, where he spent the winter, and in the spring of 1835, built a double cabin on section 30, where the cemetery now is. He afterward removed to section 7, where he accumulated a large amount of land, some 600 acres in all.

Was born in Pennsylvania in 1828, and at an early age was taken by his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Krysher, to Knox county, Ohio, where he continued to reside until the year 1850, and in the fall of that year he came to this county and settled where he now resides.
Was born in 1823, in the State of Pennsylvania, and at the age of sixteen his parents moved to Knox county, Ohio; there he grew to manhood a farmer, residing in that county until 1847, when he moved to Montgomery county, Indiana, remaining there for three years.
He came to this township on the 12th day of March, 1860, and settled on his present farm, embracing 600 acres, 520 of which are improved, the balance being timber.
