London is the seat of Middlesex County, at the forks of the Thames River, almost exactly halfway between Toronto and Detroit.
London is also home to the Museum of Archaeology, owned by the University of Western Ontario (UWO), with a reconstructed Iroquois village, the McIntosh Gallery which is an art gallery on the UWO campus, and The Grand Theatre which is a professional theatre with a secondary stage named the McManus Studio.
London is present at the junction of two major highways: the 401 (the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway, connecting Windsor to Montreal) and the 402 (connecting London to Sarnia).

 London Majors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Founded in 1925, the Majors play in the nine-team Senior Intercounty Baseball League; their home games are played at the 5200-seat stadium, Labatt Memorial Park (originally known as Tecumseh Park from 1877 until December 31, 1936), which is believed to be the oldest continuously operating baseball grounds in the world.
Traditionally, one of the high points in the season of the London Majors is the double-header with the Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club on July 1 (Canada Day), which is usually followed by fireworks set off over the adjacent forks of the Thames River.
The 1948 London Majors are considered to be one of the best amateur men's baseball teams of all time and have been inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame at the John Labatt Centre.

An Olympic Games in London in 2012 would be staged in 1,500 acres of parkland stretching from Hackney Marshes down to the Thames with an 80,000-capacity stadium as its centrepiece.
As first revealed in the Guardian, if London is successful when the IOC votes in 2005 the main stadium will be built at Marshgate Lane and will host the athletics.
London officials hope that by having everything so close - with security focused on a small area - they can confidently deal with the IOC president Jacques Rogge's fears of a terrorist attack.

English majors who have declared the major in spring of 2003 or later are required to enroll in a 400-level course to fulfill the major.
The regular major is primarily a course of study within the discipline of English; the concentration majors are interdisciplinary.
Students who declared a major in English prior to the establishment (in March 2003) of the guidelines described here will be certified to have completed the major by meeting the former requirements unless they consult their advisor and also inform the English Department Chair of their desire to elect the new rules.

The Kitchener Panthers kept their perfect home record alive on Thursday night by defeating the London Majors 12-1 in front of 175 fans at Jack Couch Park.
This was the first meeting between the teams since the Panthers' heartbreaking playoff loss to the Majors last season, and on Thursday night they showed that they are one of the teams to beat in the IBL in 2005.
London had 5 errors on the night, as well as some other 'misplays' in the field, but it was really the Panthers pitching and offense that were the difference in this game.
