Post office parcels soon became a major user of the railways for long distance parcels traffic but the two parcels services were never combined and separate railway company parcels trains continued to operate.
Flat wagons carrying standard post office road coaches were in use on several lines at least into the 1850's but the idea of sorting mail on the move in a converted coach was a great success and more services soon appeared.
The Travelling Post Office services, in which the mail was sorted on the move, continued until January 2003 when, as a cost cutting exercise, they were shut down and the modified coaching stock (mostly approaching fifty years of age) was put up for scrap.

P.O. is a F/T C/A office in the Peterborough District.
He brother was at the Head Post Office in Grimsby and either suggested her becoming a Sub postmistress or knew a vacancy was occurring/ assisted her to gain the appointment.
The office was at the rear of the house.

Railway cancels: used on traveling post offices (T.P.O.), marking may be "Poste Ambulante" in France and Belgium; terminal points are used in Germany and Egypt; sometimes with the train number.
Railway Letter Fee Stamp: a special stamp was available between 1891 and 1922 for railway firms in Great Britain and Ireland for letters handed in at stations to be collected on arrival or put into regular postal delivery at the station nearest the addressee; replaced by Railway Parcel Stamps.
Railway stamp: stamps issued to carry parcels or mail on the trains of various railway firms, since it is considered an express service, the stamps are usually used in addition to the normal postage stamps.

 Railway Rolling Stock Industry in Canada
Whilst railway shops of a sort were established in Hamilton as early as 1853, they were greatly enlarged and extended in 1859, after which locomotives and cars in volume began to be produced there.
The line of this railway was between Toronto and Collingwood, on Georgian Bay, and later extensions carried it from Allandale to Huntsville, and ultimately, to a connection with the C.P.R. transcontinental main line near North Bay.
In 1881 the Northern Railway amalgamated with the Hamilton & North-Western Railway as the Northern & North-Western Railways.

Not marked railway but the Adelphi Hotel was of course the Midland Railway Hotel originally built in 1876, later rebuilt in 1914.
A rare finial indeed and this was used on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway.

These include gems such as the Metropolitan Railway stock, which is the oldest standard-gauge train in the country.
Two old London Brighton and South Coast Railway coaches have been restored to traffic after 68 and 80 years out of use, and another is currently being restored.
Donations collected in the Exhibition and from the sales of second hand magazines are put towards the £40,000 cost of materials for the restoration of the four Metropolitan Railway Ashbury coaches, currently under repair by volunteers in the Carriage Shed, three of which have now been completed, with the other one well under way.
