The building's owner, hotelier Alex Langsam, has proposed to revamp the landmark to include an hotel, offices for his company and a fire station museum.

This engine was photographed at the London Road Fire Station, Manchester, in the United Kingdom in 1971 just after I was rejected by the 'Manchester Fire Brigade' because of my vision.
It also housed a police station and a coroner's court, the latter still being in operation.

On a trip to Florida in 1993 I visited `Station One Orlando Fire Department' for two days, and was allowed to ride their appliances to incidents,'after I had signed a form called a `Hold and Harmless', which I still have!.
As a postscript, there is another reason why I am a fire service enthusiast, and that is that when I left school in 1971, all that I wanted to do was join the Manchester Fire Brigade.
