  London Underground
The London Underground is a public transport network, composed of electrified railways that run underground in tunnels in central London and above ground in the London suburbs.
London Underground states that North Greenwich station, for example, "is large enough to contain 3,000 double-decker buses or an ocean liner the size of the Queen Mary within its walls".
London Transport also sell daily, weekend, weekly, monthly, and annual "LT cards", allowing unlimited rides in one or more zones on buses or on the London Underground; these are a good deal for commuters and anyone else who rides the trains or buses daily.

 D Stock
The D Stock was introduced into passenger service in January 1980 and is the principal stock used for services on the District Line.
The stock was built to replace the CO/CP and R Stocks then operating on the District.
The good performance is partly a result of the age of the stock, now 20 years, which is considered mature, partly because it is well understood by the operators and maintainers and partly because it has had a number of modifications to get better reliability.

As London Votes on Desirability of a Mayor, the Gulf Grows : A Capital of Haves and Have-Nots
London is home to 118 of Europe's 500 largest companies, twice as many as the runner-up, Paris; and its financial services and related industries employ an estimated 850,000 people, more than the entire population of Frankfurt.
If Londoners support the creation of the city's first mayor in a referendum Thursday, as polls suggest, bridging that gap is going to be a daunting priority for the politician who wins the job in 2000.
Many Londoners hope the power of that mandate will swing more resources to a city where the bus and underground rail network is straining from years of underinvestment, where waiting lists for hospital treatments are 50 percent longer than the national average and where schools rank among the country's worst.

London Underground T Stock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The T Stock was built by Birmingham RCandW for the Metropolitan Railway in 1931-32 for use on electric services from Baker Street to Uxbridge and Watford, though mainly used on services to Watford.
These electric multiple unit trains had slam doors with rounded tops (which were less likely to be damaged if accidentally opened in a tunnel).
The stock was replaced from 1962 by the new A60 and A62 Stock.
