London Welsh Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in London that currently plays in National Division One, the second level of the English rugby union league system (below the Guinness Premiership).
Seven London Welsh players were selected for the 1971 tour to New Zealand (a Lions record in amateur times): captain John Dawes (now London Welsh president), JPR Williams, Gerald Davies, Mervyn Davies, John Taylor (now board member and ITV commentator), Mike Roberts and Geoff Evans (now a WRU Committee man).
London Welsh is one of the few 'senior' clubs that have retained the atmosphere of an amateur club.

After a period of relative obscurity, the London Welsh first XV is currently enjoying a period of revitalisation and is climbing its way back up the English leagues.
It is an important part of the history of London Welsh that the club is a 'club' and the original schoolboy fixture in the 1950s against Carmarthen Schools (U15s) is still played to this day.
On mornings of England v Wales matches at Twickenham, London Welsh is the base camp in the heart of the English city and Old Deer Park in Richmond, two miles from the English headquarters, is usually packed with good-natured Welsh support.

Having said that, London Welsh are enjoying a bit of a purple patch at the moment with only 1 defeat in the last 5 matches (and that an irritating injury time loss to Bedford at Old Deer Park).
Welsh stole the Rotherham lineout but the Rotherham defence was good and at the next lineout Welsh were penalised for an unseen offence.
Welsh were penalised for not retreating 10 yards with Pez opting to kick for touch when going for the three points might have been the better option.

The London Welsh Male Voice Choir is the organiser of the grand biennial London Welsh Festival of Male Choirs held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Though fundamentally a Welsh Festival and attracting choirs from all over Wales, we are pleased that choirs from England, Ireland, and Scotland as well as from Australia, Canada, Germany, Slovenia, South Africa and the USA, have participated in this wonderful gala of song.
One by-product has been that songs from the Festival have filtered into the repertoires of male choirs from afar and the Welsh language is being heard and appreciated in many corners of the world.

London South Africa RFC (LSA) put on a great show on Saturday at their homeground, Imber Court, with two good wins to reward their loyal supporters who missed the Currie Cup final to support their local club.
