 Timely win for Cannons - The Boston Globe
The Long Island Lizards, desperate to make the Major League Lacrosse playoffs, threw a blanket over the high-flying Boston Cannons last night, but the Cannons escaped with a 10-9 overtime victory on a goal by midfielder Chris Rotelli with 6:58 remaining in the 10-minute, sudden-death period at Nickerson Field.
The Lizards (4-7) scored the final three goals of the session, with Jay Jalbert tying it with 19 seconds remaining on his second goal of the evening.
Long Island led, 4-1, at the half, but the Cannons scored five points in the third period, while shutting out the Lizards.

Long Island’s Chris Massey ended the Barrage’s scoring streak with his goal at 1:58.
The Lizards scored three goals in the fourth to try and cut the deficit but with three more goals by the Barrage, they secured their first win at Villanova Stadium, 16 to 14.

Baltimore was supposed to be the more offensive team yesterday, but it initially put the clamps on Long Island, emerging from the first quarter with a 3-1 lead after midfielder Jeff Sonke scored with four seconds left.

Long Island Lizards senior ballboy Andrew (Mookie) Alderman was on hand to help the Lupus Alliance of America this past Sunday, October 16th at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.
The 5K Walk, sponsored by the local Long Island/Queens Affiliate, is a fundraising event with proceeds in excess of $200,000 helping to provide support, education, awareness and financial aid to people with lupus and their families, as well as provide research grants.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, in the semifinals, the Lizards were almost eliminated by the Rochester Rattlers.
