  Rainbow Album Reviews
This archive release of their 1977 tour used to be called Live In Europe and was hard to find Stateside, but in 2002 it was re-released worldwide (with new artwork) as Live In Germany (reissuing old cds with new titles and packaging is one of the oldest record company scams in the book, after all).
Most of the album is comprised of live cuts of the Turner years, and most of Turner's songs are improved away from the sterile confines of recording studios.
Last but certainly not least, the two live songs with Dio ("Man On The Silver Mountain," "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll") alone are almost worth the price of admission; Dio's intro into the latter tune is a Spinal Tap-ish delight, and the performances of both are appealingly raw.

Rainbow (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rainbow was a British hard rock band that formed in 1974.
The first real success came in 1976 with "Rising" which didn't yield any hit singles, but it was a strong long term seller.
The album is regarded by many as one of the best of all 70s hard rock releases, and is seen as a milestone in heavy music.

Long Live Rock 'n' Roll features very nice guitar playing by Ritchie Blackmore with loads of cool riffs and a very well-done solo.
The most Rock 'n' Roll-sounding song on here is Sensitive to Light, and there's nothing wrong with that; it's still a good song.
Long Live Rock N' Roll is a classic rock/metal album, with loads of catchy and fun rocking music.

This classic offering follows on perfectly from 'Rising', although 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll' doesn't quite match the depth of song writing featured on its predecessor, this is made up for by the more accessible approach.
Unfortunately this would be the last release to feature 'Ronnie James Dio' on vocals, as he opposed 'Ritchie Blackmore's' requests to develop the band into a more commercial outfit and decided to leave, later to join 'Black Sabbath'.

Long Live Rock 'N' Roll [Remaster] - Rainbow
Originally released by Polydor Records in 1978, "Long Live Rock And Roll" combines the straight ahead rock of the first album and the muscular progressive metal of "Rising".
Long Live Rock And Roll was one of Rainbow's best albums, and it showed the great work of Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, and the late great Cozy Powell.

The album opens with an admittedly long keyboard intro, but cranks into a great groove with "Tarot Woman", with all the grace of the Horsemen Of Apocalypse.
If you are not a big fan of the dinosaur rock of Deep Purple, and you're not really interested in Ritchie Blackmore's medieval offerings lately (something I kind of like on a certain level, but we won't discuss that), or you know nothing of Dio or Blackmore, this is the best place to start.
I like Rising and it has some kool tunes I just don't think it is a strong "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" which I think is a better album through and through.

Portland, OR There was a time, not terribly long ago, when free tavern rock shows thrived in Portland.
Though a wide range of musicians brave Porky's half-step stage, louder bands are definitely more suited for the prevailing environment of Jello-shooters (both meat and veggie)--the crowd laying elbows down on the free standing island in front of the bar will drown out anything that smacks of the subtle or the sensitive.
Porky's and the free bar rock shows it schedules every week, is itself something of a rarity.

 ENDTIME ISSUES No 33
Rock music is the most popular cultural phenomenon of the second half of the twentieth century and the single greatest propagator of the moral, social, and religious values of our society.
Associated with rock, for instance, is a cult of irrationality, a reverence for the instinctual, the visceral–and a distrust of reason and logic; this form of anti-intellectualism can be highly dangerous, can lead to totalitarian modes of thought and action.
Rock music, according to Pattison, is the ritual of the pantheistic culture of our time, as "a means of approaching the infinite."63 Through the ecstasy of rock music, the fan transcends the limitation of time and space and plugs in a surrealistic world of fantasy.
