		To put it bluntly Long Time Dead is a dim horror movie in which eight London-based clubbers, high on booze and coke, decide to experiment with a ouija board and conjure up an implacably evil North African genie that threatens to kill them all in violent ways.

		There's really no need for the supernatural slant in 'Long Time Dead' given that the deaths follow conventional stalk and slash lines with only barbecue marks on the victim's backs distinguishing them from straight to video fare.
		Adams shows talent for set pieces from time to time but the whole thing feels rushed, as if the scriptwriters had to give their mate from upstairs back his laptop before sundown.
		The dialogue is poor and the character development even worse: with more personnel than S Club 7, the cast all blur into one and the only guesswork is trying to figure out which two will be left standing at the end.

		LTD are another product of the fertile underground metal scene of Staffordshire, and appear on the Phychophonic Records label, home to Razorwire (and founded by their rhythm guitarist Dan Peach).
		Long Time Dead begin their relentless attack from the minute the album kicks off with the high-speed, full-volume metal anthem 'Half-Cocked Smile', a track that fuses thunderous hooks with electrifying lead guitar solos and provides the first introduction to Matt Owen's raw vocals, which are undoubtedly indebted to the influence of Metallica's James Hetfield.
		Although Long Time Dead manage to avoid the theatrical trappings that often make heavy metal bands like Metallica feel over-dramatic, their influence is overwhelmingly apparent, especially in the explosive 'Who Are You', with its up-tempo, distorted heavy-metal guitar and savage vocals that harks back to 'Ride the Lightening' era Metallica.

		I believe that the premise of this one is that a group of young English thrill-seekers attempt to reach the spirit world via a Ouija board and end up contacting a djinn, a demon with a penchant for murder.
		I may have referred to Half-Past-A-Long-Time Dead as "a crapfest" before it ended, but that was just because tyranist was proclaiming this film better than sex and that pissed me off.
		British made, it was lower budget than a lot of American fare, but it didn't look it most of the time.

	Long Time Dead (2002)
		It is bad because it is so completely unoriginal as to be almost mind-numbing - as one of the cast says during their interview, "this film is different because it's British" - and that is about the only thing that is different.
		It is so obviously clichéd that it would not be out of place if one of the characters from Scream came around the corner and explained the rules of slasher movies to the Long Time Dead characters.
		The lighting is superb, and the night time sequences that comprise the majority of the movie really have a life of their own.

		However, there are hundreds of unemployed scriptwriters who could have devised a more intelligent narrative than the one Adams and his cronies cooked up (and don’t you believe for a second they don’t know it), so I can only hope that public indifference to their self-proclaimed talents returns them to the dole queue post haste.

		Unless you know beforehand, it comes as a shock when, after a brief, unnerving pre-credits sequence, the cast of this film begin speaking in British regional accents rather than Californian drawls.
		Long Time Dead has all the look, slickness, pacing and gore of a big budget Hollywood teen slasher movie, but it replaces wit and in-jokes with plausible student banter and a strong sense of how to set up a scene that frightens the viewer by making them think they know what will happen next.
		Long Time Dead is a film that succeeds in making you look over your shoulder for days afterwards, often not once but twice.

		The Ouija board spells out the message ALL DIE, suddenly the friends are involved in a series of eerie murders and doubt and terror replace the previously happy bonds of friendship.
