		The Long Distance Trails Datalayer is a line coverage representing trails that are longer than 25 miles.
		The data was created for the purpose of regional planning and mapping by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and was modified for DCR (then DEM) by the University of Massachusetts in 1997.
		At scales of 1:50,000 or smaller the data is reliable for all trails; between 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 the data quality of some trails may be significantly inaccurate; for scales greater than 1:25,000 the quality of most trails will be significantly inaccurate.

		A long distance hike is a journey that is so long that the participants could not continue without at least one food drop.
		But the trail is almost entirely on private land, with no camping allowed, and can only be experienced as a series of dayhikes, which to me disqualifies it as a long distance trail.

		The American Discovery Trail (ADT) was proposed in 1990 as a continuous mid-continent, coast-to-coast trail to link metropolitan areas to the nation's major long-distance trails, as well as to shorter local and regional trails.
		We believe that the National Trails System can be improved by adding this new category, which links America's cities together, is open to a variety of trail users (as determined by local conditions), and relies on a relationship of equals between the federal government and a nonprofit partner.

		Muir Trail Ranch is another resupply point slightly farther south of Vermillion Resort, but they have guests that take priority over walk-ins, so have a reservation if you want a meal and place to stay.

	Happy Trails Trailers - Long Distance Trailering and Preparations
		For long trips it is nice to use some type of bedding.
		Be sure the rope is long enough for the horses to touch the butt bar or door behind them so they won't pull back or lunge forward into the manger if there is one.
