The Age of Chivalry - English Longbowman 1204-1513(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Before 1330, which marked a transformation in England in how armies were raised and deployed, the longbowman fought in battles where he was fulfilling an auxiliary role in an age where heavy cavalry was dominant both in England and in much of Europe.
This was in stark contrast to the archers of Edward I's armies who were mostly drawn from poorer folk, whereas the longbowmen of the more professional armies of Edward III and beyond were highly paid and were increasingly drawn from the prosperous yeoman classes.
In the 13th century the longbowman might have worn the cervelliere which was a simple close-fitting helmet that protected the upper half of the head.
However, certain of the series came in more than one basic model, and the archer was a case in point, as Britains followed the Herald tradition of bringing out the same figure in several colourways, adding greatly to their collectability - and no doubt increasing sales into the bargain.
The longbowman was unique in several respects: his weapon was not detachable; he had only one choice of helmet, a simple covering with no visor; and instead of the customary knife he was equipped with a sheath of arrows.
Rare versions of the Longbowman almost certainly exist, though it's hard to establish for certain whether or not a particular colour scheme is a genuine Britains creation or has been painted on in later life by some adventurous enthusiast or unscrupulous seller.
The Pikeman has 3 defense, the Longbowman has 6.7 defense, the Knight has 4 defense, and the Battle Mage has 2 defense.

Because the number of Longbowmen was given from the Military Spy, we need to increase that number by 18%, just in case it is off (which it most likely is).
The Briton unique unit is the longbowman, which is the game's most powerful archer unit, with great damage and even greater range.
It is greater in fact than any other unit except for the trebuchet; even fully upgraded towers cannot outrange the longbow.
The only downside to the unit is that it does have a minimum range, so if infantry or cavalry close to hand-to-hand distance, the longbowman will be forced to back up in order to do damage.
The Age of Chivalry - Mounted Longbowman 1322-1513(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Mounted archers were being raised in increasing numbers by the English during the Hundred Years War and while they did not shoot from horseback their speed allowed them to join the men-at-arms in chevauchées and provide the decisive punch in battles such as Poitiers and the siege of Auberoche.
Indeed it was quite normal for a family to send an elder son to fight as a man-at-arms and a younger one as an archer.
For equipment and weapons the mounted archer was probably quite similar to the foot-archer (see the EnglishLongbowman article on this website for more details), though being worth more money would probably have better quality possessions.

Archery, Part One - Solutions(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
If there are roughly 3 feet in a metre, from how many metres could a skilled longbowman hit a target?
If a longbowman could fire 12 arrows a minute, how many seconds would it take for him to fire one arrow?
If a longbowman could keep up his speed, how many arrows would he be able to shoot in 5 minutes?
If a battle was going bad longbowman fearing capture would drop their bows and fight with swords as a melee.
Captured prisoners of war that were thought of being possible longbowman were usually ransomed back to their kingdom, but not after having both of their draw fingers cut off.
If you are interested in more information about the historical longbowmen and their weapon, take a look at The Longbow on The Beckoning, Archery Articles from the Journal of the Society of Archer-Antiquaries, and La Belle Compagnie (a recreation troupe).
A Longbowman is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, light armor, and medium armor. Note that armor check penalties for armor heavier than leather apply to the skills Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Pick Pockets, and Tumble.
The Longbowman gets better at picking out vulnerable areas at range. The range in which he gets the benefit of Point Blank Shot is increased to 50’.
The Longbowman gets better at shooting at extreme range. All shots for his bow are treated as if they were one increment closer. This will not, however, give a positive bonus. The closest range increment is only effectively doubled.

"A skilled longbowman could hit a target up to 300 feet away, and was able to fire up to 12 arrows a minute."
- If a longbowman could keep up his speed, how many arrows would he be able to shoot in 5 minutes?
This was a more mechanised version of a bow and arrow, where the bow was fixed to a wooden support which helped to aim the steel-tipped bolt (the "arrow" of a crossbow).

ive made this model and texture for an englishlongbowman, i know there is one already but i really wanted to have a go myself.
well I would use your longbowman if you create the medium, low and lowest detail models aswell (based on the models from the RTW model you used, I assume it's the romanarcher).
It's not the most pleasant thing to do, but without them I can't include your model, as they cause a framerate drop.
The Longbowman: The Longbowman is an archer with tremendous range and fire-rate.
So you see that the Arbalest stacks up pound for pound with the Longbowman, almost making it near obsolete in Imperial, because Arbalests can be massed produced (Availability of Archery Range) and cost only 5 more gold but 10 less wood.
Which means that their use in the Imperial Age is also (like the Longbowman) quite small.
