One effect in Longnor of the economic decline experienced by rural communities in the later 20th century was the closure in 1978 of a branch of the National Westminster Bank, opened in 1932.

A year on and Longnor has not changed its feel - the new owners are, by the way, great.  It is a fab place for adults (of all ages - we saw 20s to 70s) who want a quiet time.
The lack of children was also a definite plus and meant the campsite was generally quiet and you were not awoken each morning by kids.
It is a fair walk down to the pleasant village of Longnor and an even more tiring stagger back up the hill after a few drinks in the charming pubs.
