Longreach is a town and shire located in central western Queensland, Australia and is approximately 700 kilometres from the coast, west of Rockhampton.
Longreach was one of the founding centres for the Australian domestic and international airline, Qantas.
Longreach is also the home of the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, which was officially opened in 1988 by Queen Elizabeth II.

On a recent visit to Longreach I decided to stop by a few of the local pubs and sample the culture.
For those of you who do not know, Longreach is situated 800 km directly west of Rockhampton and is in the heart of the Queensland outback.
Although a relatively small town, Longreach is the birthplace of QANTAS (Queensland and Northern Territory Arial Service) and boasts the Stockman’s Hall of Fame which attracts thousands of tourists each year.

The Longreach saleyards is on track after the start of the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) on 1 July.
Longreach Saleyards manager, John Egan, said a double race Aleis electronic reader was installed in April to scan stock as they leave the scales.
Mr Egan said the only interruption to the system at the Longreach Saleyards was the occasional incidence of 'lazy' or 'sleeper' tags — NLIS tags that do not scan properly the first time the beast was run through.
