 | | The Longsight Transport Group was set up last year by Friends of the Earth and ALL, a network for voluntary and community groups in Alrdwick, Levenshulme and Longsight, following a research project into local transportation problems in the Longsight area. |
 | | The project found that people’s priorities were better bus services and cheaper Megarider weekly travel cards, reducing the danger from traffic, including traffic slowing measures, more pedestrian crossings and safe routes to schools, and reducing danger from crime, including more CCTV and police on the beat. |
 | | The Longsight Transport Project brings together local residents and aims to influence decisions being made about transport and safety in the area, and achieved its first success when the Greater Manchester Passenger Executive agreed to fund a school bus service from Longsight to the Manchester Academy in Moss Side following a campaign involving pupils. |
