Lonoke County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
Lonoke County was formed on 16 April 1873 and was named for a "lone oak" tree that stood on the site of the present county seat and was used as a local landmark.
In the county the population is spread out with 28.70% under the age of 18, 8.00% from 18 to 24, 30.90% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 10.40% who are 65 years of age or older.

The population in Lonoke County has nearly doubled in the last ten years, but the sheriffs department hasn't hired any new deputies to patrol the growing area.
As FOX 16's Jennifer Akers reports, the shortage is forcing the department to rely on volunteers to put drug dealers behind bars.
Lonoke County's current population is about 62,000, almost double from 32,000 back in 1990.
