The study found that, while water at the roof’s downspout contained copper at levels that were high in the environmental sense, dilution, interaction with piping materials and with organic carbon and other complexing agents rendered the metal nontoxic before it entered a regulated waterway.

NCRR Reporter January 2003 - Research Highlights: Copper Deficiency Starves Tumors   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Eventually, researchers traced the disease to a copper deficiency caused by ingestion of molybdenum, an element that was highly concentrated in the grasses in those countries.
In the stomachs of the animals, molybdenum was transformed into compounds called thiomolybdates, which formed complexes with copper in the diet and prevented copper absorption from the digestive tract.
The TM given at mealtimes prevents the absorption of copper from food, much like the thiomolybdates prevent copper absorption in livestock, while TM given between meals is absorbed into the bloodstream, where it complexes with copper and is removed from the body.

Copper peptides, in combination with the use of exfoliating hydroxy acids, appear to be an excellent method for the reduction of scars and other skin lesions (keratoses, skin tags, some types of moles).
The only copper peptides that have been proven - by credible skin authorities who published their results in major dermatology journals - to improve skin and hair are those invented and patented by Dr. Pickart when he was at ProCyte Corporation and the newer breakdown-resistant, long-acting copper peptides that Pickart has since developed and patented.
