It has been reported that the team was set to sign a partnership deal with Eidos, but allegedly the publisher's own recent financial difficulties caused the deal to stall and Looking Glass has suffered as a result.

Looking Glass has wrapped this premise with a compelling story line and beautifully eerie and dark graphics, creating an incredible experience (I can hardly call it a game, for to compare it to Monopoly does justice to neither).

They just sort of look like irregular-shaped blobs with a pipe sticking out, which turns out to be a shotgun or a wrench, depending on the stage of the moon and the mood of the PC.
One is that the unit models look like they could have had some more work done on them, and the other is that the explosions are crap.
System Shock 2 certainly appealed to me, although looking back on it now, it is hard to explain what made it fun to play.

The role-playing elements are deeper than they were in the first game, as you're able to personalize your character's initial attributes and abilities and later update them in a variety of significant ways.
The game looks and generally feels like a first-person shooter, but the RPG elements and detailed environments give the gameplay more depth.
System Shock 2's engine is well equipped for such stealthy maneuvering, as it's essentially an enhanced version of the Dark Engine created by Looking Glass for Thief, combined with some of the better interface features and controls of the original System Shock.

Rumors were pooping around today that Looking Glass Studios, the development house behind such fantastic games as the Thief and System Shock series, was being dissolved.
With the incredible games that have come out of that studio, they probably won't have much problem finding jobs but the breakup is still very sad for the parties involved.

Probably the most unfortunate and even shocking aspect of this game is the complete lack of modem or network support.
Looking Glass stated a while ago that a multiplayer add-on would appear soon, but has anybody seen it?
If going toe-to-toe in a little mechanized slaughterfest with your best friend is more your style, you may want to borrow this one, but not buy it.
