Thomas Patrick Anson, the 5th Earl of Lichfield (born April 25, 1939), better known as Patrick Lichfield or Lord Lichfield, is a British photographer and a first cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother Anne Bowes-Lyon (1917 - 1980) having been a niece of the late Queen Mother.
He inherited the earldom of Lichfield from his paternal grandfather, but does not use his title in his professional practice.
Lichfield was educated at Harrow School and Sandhurst, and joined the Grenadier Guards in 1959.

Lichfield added: ‘We were only given five minutes for the shoot and I had to do a double head shot and a double full-length so I shot them both in profile separately and stitched them together on the computer while they watched’.
The Lichfield image was one of a number that had been commissioned by a variety of famous photographers, also including Rankin, John Swannell, Prince Andrew and rock star Bryan Adams, back in 2001 in preparation for the 2002 celebration of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
The involvement of Lord Lichfield wasn’t his first foray into stamps – he shot the pictures for the 1973 Princess Anne Royal Wedding stamps from Great Britain and his great, great, great grandfather was Britain’s first ever Postmaster General.

Here in the UK the Kodak announcement about their cessation of the sale of film cameras in the North America and Europe was highlighted by a statement from Lord Lichfield.
Lichfield may not have the street cred of Snowdon, but he is an experienced, accomplished photographer who has survived for years in a very difficult profession.
Lichfield has done some much less glam stuff, that is really rather good, but you just don't see it so much.

 Lord of lens celebrates a life putting elite in focus
One of the most sensitive pictures of a woman shows a mother clasping her child, part of a selection taken in the early Seventies entitled the Seven Ages of Man. The pictures are on display until May 29 at Dimbola Lodge on the Isle of Wight, the former home of the photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.
She was a close friend of Lord Lichfield's family and pursued a career in photography when she moved from London to the Isle of Wight in 1860.
Lord Lichfield said: "My selection for the exhibition at Dimbola was based on the unique pedigree of this special location.

 Shugborough
Today, as the ancestral home of the Earls of Lichfield, it is still lived in by the 5th Earl, better known as the acclaimed photographer, Patrick Lichfield.
Created the 1st Earl of Lichfield in 1831, this gentleman had to sell the contents of his ancestral home and his London residence to pay off his personal debts, but the heavy burden of Shugborough remained a problem until the 3rd Earl took over the reigns.
By the early years of the 20th century the house had been successfully restored and refurbished, and the majority of the farm was let to tenants to reduce costs.
