Lore was almost identical in physical design to the android Data (also built by the Soongs), but had more human emotional responses built into his programming.
Lore was responsible for luring the malevolent Crystalline Entity to Omicron Theta, resulting in the death of all the colonists there.
Lore remained dormant until 2364 when his components were discovered by an away team from the Enterprise-D. Upon his reactivation, Lore exhibited manipulative and sadistic behavior and was eventually beamed into space when he attempted to gain control of the ship.

Lore (Star Trek) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the fictional Star Trek universe, Lore is the name of a prototype for the android Data, often referred to as his 'evil brother' and was played by the same actor: Brent Spiner.
Lore was transported off into space just before he had a chance to kill anyone ("Datalore").
Lore became their leader for a while, and lured Data into helping him fight the Federation by deactivating his ethical program.

Lore - Memory Alpha - A Wikia wiki
Lore was a Soong-type android constructed by Dr. Noonien Soong and Juliana Soong at the Omicron Theta colony and activated on September 9, 2335.
Lore drifted in space for nearly two years until he was rescued by a passing Pakled ship.
Lore made himself their leader, gave his Borg individual names, turned them into his fanatical followers and began cruel experiments on them, trying to replace their organic brains with positronic components.

 Star Trek
With the premiere of Star Trek on NBC in September 1966, few could have imagined that this ambitious yet often uneven science-fiction series would go on to become one of the most actively celebrated and financially lucrative narrative franchises in television history.
NBC threatened to cancel Star Trek after its second season, but persuaded in some degree by a large letter-writing campaign by fans to save the show, the network picked up the series for a third and final year.
Star Trek: The Next Generation greatly expanded the potential for such creative elaboration by presenting a more complex storyworld, one that actively encouraged the audience to think of the series as a foundation for imagining a larger textual universe.

 Water: The Quadrant's Finest Beverage
Star Trek fans and other consumers looking for relief from Earth's sultry climate will soon be able to quench their thirst with a beverage tailored directly for the science-fiction market.
Before the Star Trek license, the Vancouver-based company was also known for its Schlotzsky's, Renoir and Olympic Athlete water brands.
The beverage achieved its most prominent role in Star Trek lore in the third theatrical film when McCoy began to prefer it to his ordinary selection of more highly fortified drinks.

 Star Trek Enterprise
Though "Star Trek" generates multimillions of dollars for Paramount Pictures, thanks to licensing of merchandise and TV syndication sales, the last two TV series, "Deep Space Nine" and "Voyager," have played mostly to the hard-core faithful.
Expect "Enterprise," which stars Scott Bakula ("Quantum Leap") as Capt. Jonathan Archer, to reinvent "Star Trek." The new show is set a full century before Captain Kirk sets out to "explore strange new worlds." But, unlike Kirk's crew, the new cast won't be dressed like they're on their way to a galactic slumber party.
"Star Trek" is having to adapt to the way the world has changed in the 35 years since Captain Kirk, Mr.

TechnoFILE Reviews "Star Trek" movies on DVD
Star Trek III is the warmest of the Trek movies, and my personal favorite, yet it's still a ripping yarn with enough action and adventure to keep Trekkies happy.
Star Trek IV is the series' lightest entry, but it's also the most serious in that it's a cautionary tale about our fragile environment and how over the long term our short term shortsightedness could have horrible consequences for the human race in ways we could hardly dream.
Star Trek VI is a reunion and a farewell at the same time, and succeeds well as both.

BBC Online - Cult - Star Trek - Next Generation - Lore
Doppelgangers and evil twins are a staple of science fiction, and in Star Trek they have frequently been at the centre of the series' plotlines.
Lore seemed shockingly malevolent when paired with his innocent brother, and the interaction between the two characters - lifted by high-quality effects - was hugely entertaining to watch.
But, this being Star Trek, and considering some of the rumours circling around the fate of Data in the next Trek movie, Lore may not be gone forever.

For those of you unfamiliar with Star Trek lore, it has been maintained that the only good Star Trek films are those with even numbers.
The latest outing of the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Insurrection, is the ninth film in the series...and like many of its odd-numbered brethren, it proves to be an awkward misstep.
Star Trek: Insurrection isn't painful to sit through, but it adds nothing to the Star Trek mythos, and overall is a complete waste of time.

Modamag.com | Star Trek: Nemesis - Patrick Stewart, Tom Hardy(Movie Review)
For the “Trek” purists, there are plenty of cameos and surprises sprinkled throughout, including one whopper that came as a complete shock to me. It was also nice to see this crew back in one place, working together to battle Shinzon.
“Nemesis” returns “Star Trek” to past glories, and since the film is billed as the final voyage for the “Next Generation” crew, this is a fine film to send them off on a high note.
While the movie implies much influence from Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, the character of Shinzon is masterfully played and is perhaps the most interesting character in the entire movie.

Those familiar with Star Trek saga can easily identify with Data, the lovable android who represents all that is good with the concepts of artificial intelligence.
His brother Lore was a failure and was shut off, yet unfortunately he survived and has tormented Star Trek ever since.
No where in Star Trek is it noted that Data has any of Asimov's robot laws incorporated into his programming, yet it is obvious that they are there, guiding his actions.

Lore had to be deactivated and disassembled because the colonists were afraid of him because he was "cruel" and "evil." Lore had lured the Crystalline Entity to the colony.

For one thing, people who work for NASA are about as Trekked-out as people anywhere, perhaps in part because Trek lore and language lends itself well to a work culture devoted to the science and technology of space exploration.
NASA first began its Star Trek makeover in the mid-seventies when the space agency yielded to President Gerald Ford's demand (prompted by a Star Trek fan letter-writing campaign) to change the name of the first shuttle from Constitution to Enterprise.
In response to the question of what a pop-culture phenomenon like Star Trek was doing in a place that honors real-life conquests of air and space, the curator said, simply, 'There is no other fantasy more pervasive in the conceptualization of space flight than Star Trek.
