Lorenzo Snow (April 3, 1814 – October 10, 1901) was the fifth President (1898-1901) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the last president of the 19th century.
Lorenzo Snow was the fifth child and first son of Oliver and Rosetta Snow, residents of Mantua, Ohio, who had left New England to settle on a new and fertile farm in the Ohio valley.
Lorenzo Snow died of pneumonia in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1901, and was succeeded in office by Joseph F. Smith.

Although Lorenzo's sister Eliza, in her biography of him, claims to have whetted his interest in Mormonism while he was at Oberlin, his own account tells of hearing the Book of Mormon being read in his home in Mantua and of later meeting with the Prophet at Hiram in 1831.
Eight years later, Elder Snow accompanied George A. Smith, a member of the First Presidency, and others to Palestine, where, on the Mount of Olives, they blessed the land to be fruitful and dedicated the country for the return of the Jews.

In 1902, during Principal Noyes' administration, the name of the Academy was changed from Sanpete Stake Academy to Snow Academy in honor of two of the early LDS missionaries, Erastus and Lorenzo Snow, who served in Scandanavia--where many of the early settlers in the valley were originally from.
Snow College received its current name on March 17, 1923, when its name was again changed from Snow Junior College.
