Lorien (Babylon 5) biography .ms (via CobWeb/3.1 planetlab03.cs.washington.edu)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-17)
Lorien, played by Wayne Alexander, is a fictional character from from the television science fiction drama Babylon 5.
Lorien is the first of the First Ones, an immortal of great wisdom and power, and quite possibly the first sentient being in the entire galaxy.
Most critical, however, is Lorien's role in bringing about the end of the Shadow War in 2261, by providing a stage for Sheridan and Delenn to speak to both the Shadows and the Vorlons, and showing the alliance races the truth behind the war.

Babylon 5: Sleeping in Light: (Christopher Franke) With Sleeping in Light, the final episode of the five-season science fiction series Babylon 5, composer Christopher Franke took his musical experience to a new height in order to make us feel the end of the saga and give us a taste of new beginnings.
As much as Franke's initial scores to the first seaon of Babylon 5 were synth driven and reflected his time with Tangerine Dream, his style evolved, enhancing the percussion, then the brass, and finally settling, during season 5, with the nobility of strings.
Although this is one of the shortest Babylon 5 episodics released by Sonic Images (some being as long as 36 minutes for a 45-minute episode), it does not suffer from any down moments or unecessary lengths.

Recently, Sinclair took Babylon 4 back through time to aide the Minbari in their war against the Shadows of 1000 years ago; in doing so, he used the same device that had transformed Delenn in order to attain Minbari appearance, and in doing so, became Valen, Minbar's great spiritual leader who formed the Grey Council.

Lorien claims that his people were the first in the galaxy to achieve sentience and to actively take a role in the guidance of other races (the Vorlon & Shadows amongst them).
I reckon lorien was meant to be a stark contrast with the normal characters (godlike powers etc) and also contrast with the godlike characters (vorlons, shadows) by being quite likeable and human.
Lets remember that a new Babylon 5 project is coming and there are still threads from Crusade and the 20 years before the final episode to fill in.
