 BookRags: Claire Patterson Biography
Claire Patterson's contributions to science ranged from developing dating techniques using radioactive decay to alerting the public about the dangers of lead, although he began his career as an emission and mass spectroscopist with the Manhattan Project in 1944.
Patterson's renegade stature may have originated during World War II when, as a member of the Manhattan Project, he contributed to the development of the atomic bomb by analyzing the uranium isotopes that went into the bombs.
Patterson, with the help of graduate students, post doctoral fellows, and research associates from all over the United States and the world, has focused on delineating the extent to which industrial lead during the past two centuries has altered natural biogeochemical cycles of lead.

Movie Info for Sidney Shorr: A Girl's Best Friend on MSN Movies
If we haven't mentioned the fact that Sidney Shorr is gay, it's because the film itself never spells out the fact; his gayness is conveyed through subtle signs and suggestions.
Nonetheless, when Sidney Shorr: A Girl's Best Friend became a weekly series titled Love Sidney, there was such an uproar from various pressure groups (of all persuasions) that Shorr's homosexuality was muted down to virtual oblivion.
Tony Randall continued to play Sidney Shorr in Love Sidney, but the live-in actress was portrayed by Swoosie Kurtz rather than Lorna Patterson.
