  Lorne Greene Biography
Lorne Greene was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on February 12, 1915, an only child, he later said that he tried to base his posrtrayal of Ben Cartwright on his own father, Daniel Greene, who made orthopedic boots and shoes.
