Police are investigating because two businesses lost hundreds of dollars to a person who called claiming to be the mayor, stuck at an airport and trying to raise enough money to buy a plane ticket.
Mitton heard about the money grab about a week ago from suspicious business owners in Moncton who received calls from the scammer.
