		The Collins Kids quickly became popular guests on the top network television variety shows — Arthur Godfrey, Perry Como, Bob Crosby, Dinah Shore, Ed Sullivan, Steve Allen, and many others — with their teenage novelty songs and Rockabilly-tinged repertoire.
		In 1959 Lorrie, then Ricky Nelson's girlfriend, eloped with Johnny Cash's manager Stu Carnall which, after the birth of her first child in 1961, effectively ended the career of the Collins Kids.
		Although the Collins Kids had no chart hits, they were extremely popular and instrumental in introducing (along with Ricky Nelson on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet") an unthreatening style of Rockabilly into the living rooms of middle America during the mid 1950s.

		Both had successful careers as adults, and Larry went on to write some great music, including the hit song "Delta Dawn." I watched over 100 of their sets when they were appearing, as young adults, in Reno in the 1960's.
