The show traditionally took place in early January, but will be moved to December so as not to be overshadowed by the North American International Auto Show.
Beginning with the December, 2006 show, the Los Angeles show will be only the second International Auto Show in the United States to be officially recognized by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles.
The 2006 Los Angeles show was held on January 6 through January 15.

At the last several auto shows I've attended, I've seen increasing interest in hybrid-electric vehicles, with more and more models appearing, but it's been awhile since I've had any good news to report about battery-electric vehicles (EVs).
R that they brought to the L.A. Auto Show is a hydrogen-powered land-speed-record car with an engine based on the 7-series V-12, as you can perhaps see from the outline on the hood.
I first saw the Tango at the 2004 L.A. Auto Show, but their booth this year was much larger.

Jan 13 2002, As with most of the auto shows I've been to, it was crowded, noisy and loaded with some of the strangest looking concept cars you've ever seen.
Honda's Model X was a good indicator of the direction most of the concept cars went at this show; boxy, suicide doors and a distinctively retro look to them.
Ferrari was showing off their gorgeous 360 Modena, Lotus had the redesigned Elise, Lamborghini had the new Murcielago on display and Saleen was attracting quite a mob with the S7.

This last classification is shared by the Honda Insight, which I first saw at the Anaheim Auto Show a few months back, and the Toyota Prius.
The two Priuses (Prii?) on display were both left-hand drive, ready for the U.S. market; all the ones I've seen before today have been right-hand drive Japanese models (it's been for sale there for a couple of years already).
Finally, just to show that the whole show wasn't about electric and hybrid-electric cars, this is the Dodge Charger R/T concept car, which has a front-engine/rear-drive powertrain with a supercharged, natural-gas V-8 under the hood.

Luckily, the show personnel were very efficient and in about 20 minutes I had my badge, tote bag, and more press kits than I could carry.

We ignored quite a few makes who did not have anything new, particular since we had just been to the California Auto Show in October and friends had gone to SEMA in January.
To be fair, we had seen many of the cars before, and some ordinarly exotic makes are rather common here in Los Angeles-- in particular, Lambroghini and Mercedes are common sightings in parking lots for me. The Maybach booth was identical to 2004, so we completely skipped it.
Not as good as last year, not as fun as the California Auto Show, but the Los Angeles Auto Show has panache all its own, so we felt like it was worth our time.
