Delusions of Adequacy Reviews - Lost Highway Lost & Found   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Lost Highway Records has, over the last few years, become the music industry’s answer to Miramax Films (accusations about Harvey Weinstein’s personality and shady dealings notwithstanding).
A new release has now brought together the width and breadth of the Lost Highway family, and it highlights both the positives and the limitations of their formula.
Lost and Found is a startling and eye-opening collection – more than just a promotional tool – that highlights the possibilities still inherent in a genre that occasionally seems like it’s running out of ideas.

The label scrambled for a follow-up, a recording ban had been in effect for months, and even with the Sterling masters it had purchased from Rose, MGM was running out of Williams, good material.
By mid-summer, 1952, Hank' s recording career was the only part of his life that wasn't headed downhill.
Three of Hank, s recordings reached the top of the charts after his death; "Your Cheatin, Heart" "Kaw-Liga" and "Take These Chains From My Heart." By 1954, his earthly voice silenced, the fragile young man from Alabama was only a legend.

"This record is not the product of the last year of my life, it's a product of the last 28 years of my life." To understand SAM ROBERTS, you have to backtrack to the day he picked up his first stringed instrument: a violin, when he was 4 years old.
Recorded on June 2nd, 2004 on the legendary Stubbs' Barbecue stage in Austin, Texas, the 16-song showcase by THE MAVERICKS features stunning renditions of some of the band's most well-known songs, along with an eclectic mix of group and fan favorites.
The recording of the still untitled album is planned to take place in January/February of 2005, with a tentative release date set for sometime in May. WIZARD formed in Bocholt way back in 1989 and never looked back.

If you've already looked on our bands page (which has a complete and current roster) and you have not found the artist you seek, that means this artist is not part of the Interscope, Geffen, AandM family of labels at this time.
Unfortunately, it is often difficult to obtain current information on artists who may have recorded for Interscope, Geffen or AandM Records and it's associated labels in the past, and who are no longer with the label.
An artist can end up recording for multiple labels during the span of their career which makes it even more difficult.

Hank Williams returns in 'Snapshots'   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
As it was, he barely made it to 29, but his legacy changed country music forever, even if hardly a trace of his nasal yodel or painfully simple songwriting style remains audible in the songs that play on the radio these days.
Williams' life laid a heavy hand on those around him, and it eventually became clear to them that if a man is determined to descend into his misery and drink himself to death, there's only so much other folks can do to keep him from it.
Despite all its new insights, Snapshots From the Lost Highway shows that the fascination with Williams remains the same nearly half a century after his fatal ride: Behind such brilliant, creative lights, there often also burns a deep, hot darkness.

If you gave me a penny for all the albums that have been shelved in the midst of corporate rationalisations, I could've built my own recording empire by now.
Whiskeytown's story is depressingly familiar - their third album was recorded in a converted church in Woodstock in the spring of 1999 but its completion coincided with the Universal/Polygram merger, prompting the closure of the subsidiary label Outpost.
It took 18 months for the band to be released from their contract, by which time they had gone their separate ways.

The critique suggested that the way for the left to proceed post-70's was for people living on the margins of bourgeois society, who couldn't be coopted, to regroup on the basis of radical ideas of freedom and, with a heady dose of anti-consumerist wisdom, go from there.
Yes, to a degree; after all Buhle is still a Left Marxist instead of a true blue libertarian, and he does support social democratic reforms instead of more anarchistic ones, and Biafra himself is somewhet of a moderate social democrat when it comes to his politics; he's condemned the Anarchists in Seattle, for one.
And his record label is still populated, for the most part, by Punk bands that appeal to the middle class instead of to working class punks.

As part of the prolific flow of material that found him releasing three albums in two years, ex-Whiskeytown frontman Ryan Adams continued to surf his wave of popularity with 2002's DEMOLITION, a baker's dozen worth of demos.
Culled from five separate demo recording sessions, these songs find Adams all over the stylistic map indulging in some twangy, pedal-steel-soaked tendencies ("Hallelujah"), making like Paul Westerberg with a Byrds Jones ("Gimme A Sign"), and tucking into echoey ballads ("Dear Chicago").
