The Lotud are an indigenous ethnic group residing in Sabah, eastern Malaysia on the island of Borneo.
Lotud traditional music is expressed mainly through the Mojumbak a musical group performance with two gongs (Tawag-tawag), a set of small gongs (Kulintangan) (played by two persons), and two long drums or one short and bigger drum gandang.
Today the Lotuds are still known for their aggressiveness as reflected by the personalities of their political leaders.

Appropriately, in recognition of Mat Salleh as one of Sabah's earliest freedom fighters, the State Government built a permanent memorial fort in a garden at the exact site where he was killed at Kampung Tibabar in Tambunan.
Also killed in the gun battle were about 1,000 of Mat Salleh's followers who fought from the neighbouring villages of Lotud, Tondulu, Piasau, Timbou, Kitutud, Kepayan and Sunsuron.
Under the care of the Sabah Museum, the memorial at Tibabar has Mat Salleh's photograph, some of his weapons and paraphernalia related to his battles with the British.

The sundatang of the Panampang Kadazan Dusun, the Lotud - Dusun (who call it gagayan) and the Rungus are more widely played than that of the Kadazan Dusuns of Tambunan.
