	Lotus Eclat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Type 76 and Type 84 Lotus Eclat, built from 1975 to 1982, was a front engine rear drive coupe.
		It was based on the Lotus Elite but had a fastback body style which offered more practicality with storage in the boot (trunk).
		Both were versions of the Lotus 907 engine series, which was also used in naturally aspirated and tubo charged versions in the Lotus Esprit.

		Being a Lotus, straight-line performance is not the most important factor, but every day driving on normal roads, or around a circuit is. There are very few cars on sale today that can match the speed, agility and safety of the Exige S in both day to day and track or circuit driving.
		Every single Lotus, wherever it may be in the world started life here which is no small feat to say the least, especially when you take into consideration that every aspect of Lotus has evolved since the Elise was launched in 1996 (10,000 Elise have been sold since it’s launch).
		Recently Lotus have concentrated their expertise and experience in the super car arena to the Elise and Exige models, which still deliver super car performance and again at a fraction of the cost.

		In a nutshell the idea behind this is to replace the unreliable/nasty/triumph aspects of the Lotus suspension with relatively modern and reliable Sierra Cosworth components (there is alot more to it tho).
		The 2.2 Eclats are pretty rare (only about 200 made I think) and for my needs the most desirable of the Elite/Eclats.
		There are adapters to bolt the CV joint onto the Lotus diff.

		Lotus enlarged the backbone chassis of the Elan and kept the Twin Cam engine, the disc brakes, the independent suspension; but was able to offer two jump seats and a roomier cabin.
		The Lotus 72 used variable rate torsion bar springs at both front and rear, front inboard disc brakes, the continuation of the wedge aerodynamic bodywork, multiple element rear wing and side radiators.
