		At the time it was still a novel concept, as while heavy metal had been quite popular since the late 60’s, the Japanese metal scene was almost entirely cover bands, with the areas near US military bases being frequent breeding grounds.
		Around Loudness soon there was a thriving Japanese metal scene which also included Bow Wow, Earthshaker, Action, Kodomo Band, Pink Cloud, X Ray, Flatbacker/EZO and 44 Magnum, with who they both competed and cooperated.
		The heavy metal survivors continue to soldier on, although these days have cut back on touring and are playing more to their Japanese audience.

		Thanks to the success of this album (at least in Japan), Loudness was able to launch an attack on the American market with their next album, "Thunder In The East".
		Loudness is easily the best Japanese metal band I've heard, especially their older stuff (not really their NEW material).

		Having failed to make any further headway in the States, despite their best efforts to play by the more commercial tastes of American metal audiences, it was obvious that guitarist Akira Takasaki intended 1992's simply-titled Loudness to serve as a big middle-finger to all those who had messed with his band in recent years.
		Possibly the heaviest record of Loudness ' career, the album was pure aggression, but, sadly, little else.
		New recruits Masaki Yamada (formerly vocalist for rival Japanese metal band EZO) and bassist Taiji Sawada do their part in helping Loudness take their first step back from the brink of extinction, but, truth be told, Takasaki really could have used a break to regroup and recharge his creative batteries.

		Loudness was a Japanese hard rock quartet that had numerous hit albums in the 80's and early 90's.
		Loudness' "Thunder In The East" is a must for any complete metal collection, and in this writers opinion, their best work.
		Loudness was unfairly lumped in with all the '80s so-called "hair-metal" bands because of their look (probably due more to mis-management than actual personal styles), and unfortunately that label seemed to have stuck with them, despite the release of 4 brilliant CDs, this one being the first Major Label American release.

	No Life 'til Metal - CD Gallery - Loudness
		Early heavy metal classic that was never officially released in the U.S. Oddly enough, however, some of these songs were later re-recorded and given a more pop metal sheen on albums like "On the Prowl" that were recorded specifically for America.
		While Loudness have released their share of pop metal songs, this song is just uncharacteristic of the band.
		I am still not sure I would rank "Racing" at the top of the Loudness catalog, as it's hard to beat those classic, but it is at least a good listen and a welcome return to something leather clad and heavy.

		In October `05 I got to see Sex Machineguns (my favorite Japanese metal band) play their first US live gig [read the live review], and now in April `06 here comes Loudness to small NC club.
		These days, many US metalheads would probably be surprised to learn that Loudness actually never broke up and has continued to churn out records in their homeland.
		I had assumed that Loudness would be a pretty big draw, and I knew that the show in Virginia the night before had sold out completely.
