It was there that I caught a glimpse of the scar on his leg where his femur was pushed through his kneecap as a result of his infamous Loudon crash on this weekend in'98.
DuHamel's Loudon injuries were grave and life-changing, but the bigger tragedy of Loudon may very well be that Wilson, a very talented motorcycle racer, never raced again after his ghastly and senseless crash.
The writer, Kevin Provencher, and Loudon's PR man, Ron Meade, give an interesting if not imaginative and inflammatory account of the situation at Loudon, criticizing the factory riders and the AMA for what they see as transgressions that led to the demise of the Loudon AMA Superbike event.

 Soup :: 2001 Loudon Preview
Loudon a place where things happen that can steer the outcome of the rest of the season.
What I mean is that after the Classic is run at this track, which is the tightest, gnarliest, bumpiest venue these motorcycles have seen this year, then the teams will have experienced both the long, fast smooth tracks, a really tight gnarly one, and several that are sort of in-between these two extremes.
The bikes that seem to tackle Loudon best (lately) are the Suzukis, and when you consider Mladin's won here twice (almost three times but the machine broke in '99 while he had a substantial lead), and Yates has won here as well, this doesn't look good for the competition.
