Loudon County was formed on May 27, 1870 from portions of Roane, Monroe and Blount Counties.
On September 5, 1870, the county court was organized at the Baptist Church in Loudon.
In the county, the population was spread out with 21.90% under the age of 18, 6.70% from 18 to 24, 27.50% from 25 to 44, 27.70% from 45 to 64, and 16.20% who were 65 years of age or older.
