Lough Neagh ((additional info and facts about pronounced) pronounced ; (The Celtic language of Ireland) Irish Loch nEathach) is the largest (Irish word for a lake) lough, or body of freshwater, in Ireland and Britian.
The Lough is very shallow around the margins and has an average depth in the main body of the lake of about 9 metres (30 feet); although at its deepest the lough is about 25 metres (80 feet) deep.
Lough Neagh attracts (A person who identifies and studies birds in their natural habitats) bird watchers from many nations due to the number and variety of birds which winter and summer in the (additional info and facts about bogland) boglands and shores around the lough.

The first objective for the people in the area of the lough is to stop the culling of all fish, including trout, which are also killed in nets as this interferes with the natural ecological balance of the fishery.
They are the only lakes of their kind in the world, with the exception of Lough Leven in Scotland, which have an indigenous fish fauna dominated by the salmonoid species brown tout and, in some cases, shared with Atlantic salmon.
Lough Sheelin is one of the few wild brown trout fisheries still remaining in Ireland and it is the Shannon board's policy to ensure that all possible measures are taken to ensure that the lake remains as such.

Lough Corrib: Most areas between Annaghdown and Cornamona, on the eastern side of the lough, experienced large hatches of olive and sedge flies with chironomid hatches reasonably too.
Lough Corrib: It was a difficult week enough for trout fishing except in the areas where hatches of olives were good, and the hatches occurred mainly on the dull, darker days.
Lough Mask: Reports from the lough say that the trout fishing is excellent most of the time, even when conditions are not so favourable.

Last Friday 25th April 1,000 trout were stocked into Lough Owel, the fish were transported by boat to various parts of Lough Owel, the Shannon fishery board staff were operating out of Tullaghan, the weather was wet and windy but the lads covered the whole lake on Friday.
Fished on Lough Owel 26th April, there was a total of 54 young anglers from all over Ireland competing for 12 places on the Irish national team.
LOUGH OWEL: Fishing was described as slow last week on Lough Owel with 24 fish officially returned.

The principal pike fisheries are the River Shannon, Lough Ree, Lough Forbes, the River Inny including Lough Derravaragh and the Gowna Network of Lakes.
The use of a boat is advisable on the larger rivers and lakes such as the Shannon, Lough Ree, Lough Derravaragh and Lough Gowna but good pike can be taken from the shore in all locations especially along the River Inny and Lough Gowna.

any info on the lough and its fishing,drifts flies ghillies would be much appreciated as son is in the england team fishing owel in august next year.
For me at least Owel is a late summer evening sedge fishery.
