Topic: Loughborough (UK Parliament constituency)

Alexander Wedderburn Rosslyn - LoveToKnow 1911
In June 1778 Wedderburn was promoted to the post of attorney-general, and in the same year he refused the dignity of chief baron of the exchequer because the offer was not accompanied by the promise of a peerage.
For some time after that ministry's fall he was considered the leader of the Whig party in the House of Lords, and, had the illness of the king brought about the return of the Whigs to power, the great seal would have been placed in his hands.
In 1792, during the period of the French Revolution, Lord Loughborough seceded from Fox, and on the 28th of January 1793 he received the great seal in the Tory cabinet of Pitt.

 Driver Responsibility Debated in Parliament
They were walking along the pavement of one of the main residential roads in my constituency, Fosse Road South, when Chantel wanted to try out her friend's new bike.
She hopped on and rode for a few yards, still on the pavement, which at that point was raised well above the road and guarded from it by a metal railing.
In the majority of cases--seven out of eight--the horror of a death on the roads is followed by nothing more than a charge of careless driving and, if the driver is convicted, a fine of a few hundred pounds and the imposition of a few penalty points.
